Mason Strevel Construction and Rustic & Royal: Mason and Jodi Strevel are a team providing unique exterior and interior design work

by Carolyn Tamler 18th October 2021

Mason Strevel is a third generation Whidbey Islander. He started working for his father when he was just seven years old helping him at job sites and learning the ropes.  Mason got his own contractor’s license in 1997. Mason’s love of building and creating grew throughout the years as he perfected his craft and eventually created his own business in 2000.

Jodi Strevel came to Whidbey Island as a child when her family moved to the island from New York. Like her husband, she has been a Whidbey resident most of her life.

Since childhood Jodi has had a natural talent in design, art and creativity.

Mason and Jodi had a mutual friend who set them up on a date 21 years ago, and the relationship has worked for them personally and professionally ever since.

Mason Strevel Construction LLC is a small family-owned business that currently includes five employees who work with Mason. The employees at Mason Strevel Construction include his father, and a nephew plus three other people who share the same work ethic and design creativity as Mason. Mason Strevel Construction does new construction for commercial and residential properties. The quality of their work is recognized throughout the island.

Jodi has her own business called Rustic & Royal that does artistic home design and originally designed interiors and custom art pieces. The Strevels enjoy combining their talents and incorporating them into the designs. Jodi says, “The houses we design have a special look to them.” She adds, “We enjoy creating quality homes that match the goals and visions of our clients.”  One might say that working with the Strevels can be like getting a package deal for your build and design.

Between the two of them, they have four children, a 33-year old and 31-year old, and a ten year old and seven year old. Mason and Jodi agree that Whidbey Island is where they want to live their lives and raise their family.

Mason and Jodi have some additional interests, as well. Mason loves coaching kids, sports, travel, boating and golf.

Jodi is known to a lot of people on the island for her many years in the exercise field.

She was the Fitness Director when the Island Athletic Club first opened 20 years ago, and is currently still teaching group classes, and has owned her own wellness studio.

Jodi also loves cooking. She says, “I am a baker and a passionate cook.” She is especially proud of the biscotti she makes that come from her family’s Italian roots.
