When Dawn Pinaud was planning her new coffee house next to Mukilteo Coffee Roasters, she was looking for a top-rated baker to prepare tasty items to go with her variety of coffee offerings. Beth Smith, a former owner of the Mukilteo Coffee Shop, introduced Julie Parrick to Dawn, and after a review of Julie’s history, Dawn invited her to provide baked goods and other food items for the new Coffee at Dawn shop.
Julie moved to Whidbey Island in 1993 to be near family. She established her own catering company in 2000. She says, “I have been a baker since I was nine years old.” She created an on-line business, and with her skills she was invited to cater for events that included as many as 1,000 people. Over the years that she has had a catering and baking business, the quality of her work increasingly brought her more customers. She notes: “Friends started asking me to do weddings and fund-raising events on Whidbey”.
With Dawn Pinaud’s background managing coffee bars and cafes, and Julie’s catering history, Coffee at Dawn makes a perfect environment for relaxing with a cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast, lunch, or pastry prepared by Julie.
Julie says, “I want people to feel blessed and happy when they eat my baked items.”
Dawn adds, “People who stop by Coffee at Dawn will definitely feel blessed and happy in the cozy environment with a large selection of coffee options and the excellent selection of baked goods prepared by Julie and other delicious food options.”
