Whidbey's Saratoga Orchestra Concludes Season with Blockbuster Concert: “Reel Music – From Stage to Screen”

WHIDBEY ISLAND, WA — Whidbey’s own professional Saratoga Orchestra wraps up its 2024-2025 season with an electrifying celebration of iconic film scores in “Reel Music: From Stage to Screen.” This unforgettable concert experience will transport audiences through the emotional power and grandeur of some of the most beloved movie soundtracks of all time.

 

Performances will take place:

  • Saturday, May 17 at 7:00 PM – Oak Harbor High School
  • Sunday, May 18 at 2:00 PM – South Whidbey High School

 

 

Under the baton of Music Director Anna Edwards, the orchestra will bring to life a rich program that blends cinematic wonder with the immersive energy of live symphonic performance. Audiences can expect everything from epic fantasy scores to whimsical adventures, featuring:

 

  • Ethel Smyth – Overture to The Boatswain’s Mate: A bold and lively piece from 1913 by the influential English composer and suffragette.
  • Howard Shore – The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: A sweeping, heroic score that captures the spirit of Tolkien’s legendary saga.
  • Patrick Doyle – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: A mystical and dynamic arrangement from the beloved wizarding world.
  • John Williams – Empire Strikes Back Medley: A thrilling suite from the Star Wars universe, full of unforgettable themes and galactic drama.
  • Joe Hisaishi – Suite from Spirited Away: A hauntingly beautiful and magical score from Studio Ghibli’s animated masterpiece.
