Whidbey Island Distillery’s island-picked blackberry liqueur is bottled and ready for people to enjoy while supplies last. Three summers ago, Bev and Steve Heising set out to embrace the abundance of the Whidbey Island wild blackberries. They couldn't image picking all the berries needed to make a batch. The Heisings found the answer to the problem: “We asked people to provide us with the berries, and the community responded by delivering several containers of beautiful local blackberries.”
The Heisings are donating $2 per pound of fruit picked to the most popular local Whidbey Island charities selected by those who donate and will donate an additional $2 per bottle after the liqueur is bottled.
Whidbey Island is open in the summer from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Curbside pickup is also available and shipping anywhere within Washington State.
