Each star is born within a cloud of interstellar gas and dust. But its birth weight (mass) determines its subsequent lifestyle and lifespan, and whether it will go out with a bang or a whimper to leave behind a white dwarf, neutron star, black hole, or perhaps nothing at all.

 

Our presenter, NASA Ambassador Greg Donohue, returns with a new look at the life cycle of stars.
