Ready for Spring Planting?
The weather is warming up and gardeners in Island County are eager to be digging in the soil. Just in time starting April 16th the Master Gardener Plant Sale is offering tomato plants, veggie starts, perennials, shrubs, trees and native plants to help you expand and refresh your garden.
As Covid persists, this year the sale will be online. Orders can be placed from April 16 at 9 am through May 4 at 6 pm. On May 8 there will be curbside pick up at locations on Whidbey (Greenbank Farm) and Camano (Multipurpose Center).
The Master Gardeners have amassed over 200 varieties of plants for sale plus garden art which can all be purchased online at www.icmgf-store.org. All proceeds from the sale will be used to support the community educational mission of the Island County Master Gardener Program.
The Master Gardeners are trained through the WSU Extension Program to pursue and share their knowledge of research-based gardening and environmental stewardship practices. The Island County Master Gardeners sponsor plant clinics and a horticultural hotline to answer your gardening questions. They design and maintain the Educational Gardens at Greenbank Farm and assist with school and community gardens.
Next March, the Island County Master Gardener Foundation will sponsor the 33rd annual Whidbey Gardening Workshop with speakers and classes covering all facets of gardening in the Northwest.
There are over 90 certified Master Gardeners in Island County. The WSU Extension Master Gardener Program is open to all: extensive horticulture knowledge is not needed to join the program. Anyone with a passion for gardening and interest in sharing knowledge with others will be welcomed into this community of dedicated stewards of our Island County environment.
Put April 16 on your calendar so you won’t miss the Island County Master Gardener Plant Sale. www.icmgf-store.org.
