What makes bats unique and why are they so important?

Whidbey's nine bat species hunt moths, beetles, mosquitoes, and other insects in our night skies. The 1,400+ species of bats are vital players in their native habitats worldwide, filling critical roles in insect control, plant pollination, and seed dispersal.

In this program, Sarah Schmidt, bat researcher, teacher, and local author (Getting to the Water's Edge), will share adaptations and contributions of Whidbey Island bats using photos, video, and personal stories.
