Before deciding to take ownership of the food truck at the Penn Cove Brewery in Freeland, Lisa says, “Our fried chicken and beer were favorites of people coming to the restaurant.” She adds, “Fried chicken will be the focus of the menu with many variations.”

Lisa has been the owner of the Braeburn Restaurant in Langley, a popular local restaurant, since 2010. As the weather warms and more customers show up, Lisa is planning to expand the menu, but says “We will still keep it simple.”

She wasn’t looking to have another restaurant, but when she saw that Gordon Stewart was ready to leave the food truck, she felt it was an opportunity to do something in addition to the location in Langley. She will keep the prices reasonable, but will be expanding what is offered. She notes, “It was such a neat location.” Besides being next to Penn Cove Brewery, the Braeburn at the Barnyard food truck* is at the top of a hill with lovely views.”

The Braeburn at the Barnyard will be hiring additional employees for the restaurant and the food truck in the coming months. Visitors to the food truck will usually be greeted by Lisa, who is often cooking or serving customers. Lisa says, “We have a fun atmosphere. We want people to appreciate the feeling of people who are enjoying what they do.”

Currently, the food truck is serving lunch, Wednesday through Sunday, Current hours for the food truck are Wednesday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Satruday and Sunday, noon – 8:00 p.m.  As business pickups in the warmer weather, she plans to expand the hours and by the summer, she is planning to have the food truck operating seven days a week.
