“Portals of Creation”, the name of Ian Joseph Jackson’s studio and business name, he defines as “dedicated to exploring the journey of the soul and the interconnectedness of all beings through the arts.”

A singer-songwriter, music producer, dancer, poet, fashion designer and painter, Ian defines his work as “multi-dimensional, exploring the nexus between music, dance, painting, literature and the wisdom traditions.”  He is currently working on a series of self-published illustrated books ranging from poetry to “an adult children’s book of myth and metaphysics.”

His background includes graduating Magna Cum Laude from New York University in 2003. He majored in religion with a focus on early Christianity. In addition to his artistic talents, he also studied Ayurvedic Nutrition.

Ian was born in New York and raised in Los Angeles before moving to Whidbey Island four years ago.

His theme is to use art as a bridge for ennobling our human process of learning to co- create change, versus simply respond for or against it. He comments: “When we embrace change, we invite ourselves to experience a deeper layer of complexity and potentially a deeper layer of richness, beauty and color in life.” He adds, “Once we move away from our binary way of perceiving life, venturing into the full spectrum of colors, literal and figurative, we can choose to replace an obsolete vision with a more holistic, creative, and unifying presence in the world.”

Ian adds: “I hope my art inspires inquiry, thought and reflection about new ways of conceiving our interrelatedness as Divine beings embarking upon the collective project of building a new world.”

With Patreon, YouTube, and an Etsy shop in the works, Jackson will also be hosting weekly “Meet the Artist” pop- ups upstairs at the Bayview Cash Store during the  Liberation Of Color” exhibit, with hand-dyed and painted fashion, greeting cards, art prints and originals available.

February 12th (12:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 18th (1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) he will host “gallery talks/book signings” for those interested in celebrating the release of “The Liberation of Color I: Poems”, an illustrated book of poetry, as well as learn more about the thought and artist behind the provocative images in the space below.
