Winter is a Cozy Time at Dancing Fish Vineyards

by Carolyn Tamler 27th November 2023

As the winter months and holidays are beginning, Erin and Ross Egge, the owners of Dancing Fish Vineyards, are planning several opportunities for people to enjoy the property and the wines at 1953 Newman Road in Freeland, Washington.

Erin notes, “There is a certain peace you feel when you step onto the property, much like the peace many of us locals feel when we drive off the ferry boat from the mainland and know that to be on Whidbey Island is to be home. The expansive grounds are gorgeous, and in the winter it is magical. Aside from the 12-foot Christmas tree in the barn, we decorate all fourteen rows of vineyard with Christmas lights. Every day that we are open in December and January, the lights turn on at 4:45 p.m. sharp. To witness this with a glass of wine in hand is pure joy.”

The six-acre Dancing Fish property provides beautiful views for people to enjoy while they have a glass of wine and experience the peaceful environment. The wine is special, made in partnership with Washington winemakers, and all of the varieties are made from grapes grown in Eastern Washington. They offer a white estate blend as well, that is ready in spring and sells out by the end of summer.

Some of the current winter features that promote the enjoyment of their wines and the lovely property include:

  • Every day that the tasting room is open in December and January (hours below), the vineyard will magically light up at 4:45 pm.
  • Fires under the tasting room gazebo
  • Heated barn and tasting room
  • Weekly community events (see below for upcoming events!)

In addition, Dancing Fish now has started a delivery service available from Clinton to Greenbank ($10 fee), with home delivery of their wines. Simply call the tasting room to place your order.

Stop by the tasting room during open hours for a glass of wine and to enjoy the grounds. Make a reservation to host your own event or a group tasting by visiting the website, calling them at 360-632-4190 or emailing them at info@dancingfishvineyards.com
