Dawn Pinaud has opened “Coffee at Dawn” on Crawford Road, next to Mukilteo Coffee Roasters

Many Whidbey Islanders and visitors to Whidbey have been missing the Mukilteo coffee shop located on Crawford Road. That loss is now becoming a major gain as a new business has opened with espresso service and a broad range of excellent baked goods.

Dawn Pinaud is a Coffee Specialty Consultant who has global experience providing consulting services to international companies. Now she is bringing her skills to Whidbey Island. “Coffee at Dawn” and offers a broad range of coffee options, plus excellent baked goods, and a comfortable environment to relax and chat with friends.

Dawn has opened over 100 coffee bars and cafes in. She says, “I have always loved the process of coffee making.” She calls herself a “Coffee-Preneur” and has lots of experience that qualify her for that description.

Howard Schultz learned about Dawn’s talents and hired her to manage the first Starbuck’s beverage store in Seattle.  Following that, Dawn opened several of the Starbucks stores in the Puget Sound Area. She worked in each of these stores and trained the manager and the team of employees.

Her skills as a Coffee Specialty Consultant include coaching a wide range of clients about business development for new innovative concepts, reviewing exciting processes to identify areas for improvement, competitive analysis, improving costs and sales objectives.

Even though she is passed average retirement age, she loves her coffee making business so much that she is not ready to quit. She enjoys creating a team of people to work with her. She adds, “They become like a family for me.”

In today’s coffee world, it’s not just about selling a cup of coffee. There is now a broad range of syrups that are taking coffee to new levels, and public awareness and appreciation for the variety of coffee drinks continues to grow.

In addition to the great range of coffee offerings, Coffee at Dawn is featuring delicious baked goods, made on the premises by Julie Parrick, who has been doing catering since 2000. Julie also has a broad range of experience (her story follows this next week on Whidbey Local).

Together, the excellent coffee options, plus Julie’s baked goods, make Coffee at Dawn the perfect place to relax, have a cup of whatever coffee you like, and a yummy treat.
