Whidbey Community Foundation (WCF) is pleased to share that its sixth annual grant cycle will be open until Friday September 8th, 2023. Any organization that operates with a charitable status or for a charitable purpose on Whidbey Island is eligible to apply for a grant. The organization does not need to have a headquarters or physical presence on Whidbey, so long as services are provided here.
This year, our Board of Directors has prioritized four distinct Grant Areas for funding: K-12 Education, Human Services, and Arts & Culture. Additionally, WCF recognizes the needs of our community extend broadly; we are also opening a 4th Open Area this year to any charitable organization serving Whidbey Island. K-12 Education Area, Human Services Area, and Arts & Culture Area applications will be considered for up to $10,000; Open Area applications will be considered for up to $5,000.
“Our Grants Committee is made up of community members from all across our island and helps WCF determine priority areas for funding. This year, WCF will focus on four grant programs. Through the Arts & Culture grant program, we are hoping to support organizations providing access to arts and culture programs for Whidbey residents, organizations supporting Whidbey’s creative economy through visual and performing arts or organizations otherwise working within Arts & Culture on Whidbey. Through the K-12 Education grant program, we are aiming to fund organizations supporting students to ensure they receive educational opportunities to enhance the course of their lives and careers. Through the Human Services grant program, we want to support Whidbey nonprofits who are ensuring Whidbey Island residents have access to vital social and human services. And lastly, our Open Area grant program is open to any organization that operates with a charitable status or for a charitable purpose on Whidbey Island.” stated Jessie Gunn, Executive Director “Additionally, we are excited to be able to offer a limited amount of grants in the $10,000 range this year and would like to thank our donors and community supporters who have helped us to reach this point.”
